Programs removed on June 25, 2025 will continue to qualify until early 2026, giving students added flexibility in planning for Canada PR 2025.

On June 25, 2025, IRCC revised its list of eligible PGWP study programs:
- Added 119 new CIP codes in fields like health, education, and trades.
- Removed 178 codes, including all “Transport” programs.
This adjustment affected primarily non‑degree diploma and certificate students. Degree-track students (bachelor’s, master’s, PhD) were already exempt from the field‑of‑study rule.
📅 What’s the New Update?
IRCC’s July 4, 2025 update reverses the June removals temporarily. All previously removed programs remain PGWP‑eligible until early 2026. Students who applied for study permits between June 25 and July 4, 2025 will also be unaffected—even if their program was on the initial removal list.

- Grace period granted: Programs removed on June 25 will remain valid.
- Grandfathering: Students who applied between June 25–July 4 maintain eligibility.
- Expanded program list: Total eligible programs now ~1,107 (up from ~920).

To qualify for a PGWP, students must:
- Complete an eligible program of at least 8 months.
- Maintain full-time study status (except possibly final semester).
- Apply within 180 days after receiving final transcripts.
- Hold valid status during the application period.
- Meet language requirements appropriate to the program.
Programs through bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral streams remain exempt from the field-of-study requirement.
